Lab news
Two papers that Dr. Riley worked on during her postdoc have been published. These studies study lipid nanoparticles as therapeutics for multiple myeloma. Check them out in the “publications” tab, and congratulations to the research team!
A big welcome to our newest Ph.D. student, Joshua Yang! Josh joins us after completing his B.S. and M.S. at Drexel University. We are excited to see what he will accomplish during his time in the lab!
The lab was awarded an NSF grant to understand structure:function relationships between LNP design and delivery parameters. We look forward to continuing our work towards creating better therapeutics for patients.
Warm welcome to our newest PhD student, Liza Guner! Liza joined the lab in Fall 2022, and we are excited to have her on-board to develop new strategies to treat pediatric leukemia.
Our superstar MD/PhD student, Sam Hofbauer, was awarded a graduate research fellowship from the New Jersey Department of Health and the New Jersey Commission on Cancer Research to develop immunotherapies for endometrial cancer! We are honored to have the opportunity to make an impact in this field. Congratulations, Sam!!
The lab was awarded a research grant from the New Jersey Commission on Cancer Research and New Jersey Department of Health to develop drug delivery technologies for pediatric cancer. We are excited to work towards better and safer treatment options for pediatric cancer patients. Thank you to the NJDOH and NJCCR for your support of this important work!
Dr. Riley was selected to serve on the Early Career Editorial Board for the Journal of Bioactive Materials (BAM)
Sam and Rachel both passed their qualifier exams and are now our two first PhD candidates! Congratulations to Sam and Rachel!
Navya Devaguptapu joined the lab as our first Masters student! She will develop new nanoparticle technologies for drug delivery. Welcome, Navya!
Asma Vahora joined the lab as a PhD student! She will work on computational modeling projects. Welcome, Asma!
Dr. Riley’s postdoctoral work done at the University of Pennsylvania has been published in Science Advances! In this work, we engineered lipid nanoparticles for in utero mRNA delivery, which can ultimately may be used for drug delivery to fetuses with congenital diseases prior to birth.
We are excited to welcome PhD trainee Rachel Young to the lab! Rachel holds an NSF GRFP fellowship and will be working on studying nanoparticle-placenta interactions. Welcome to the lab, Rachel!
The first review article from our lab has been published in Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews! It is titled “Exploiting the placenta for nanoparticle-mediated drug delivery during pregnancy.” Check it out!
We are ecstatic to have our first graduate student, Sam Hofbauer, join the lab! Sam is an MD/PhD student was tons of research experience, and his dissertation will focus on developing nanoparticle carriers for maternal-fetal health. We are excited to welcome Sam to the lab!
Our first undergraduate researchers have joined the lab! We are excited to welcome Qazi Ahmad, Marie Green, Colleen Grehlinger, and Jamie Medina to the IMPACTlab team!
Starting Up
The IMPACT lab is starting up at Rowan University in the Department of Biomedical Engineering! If you are student or postdoc interested in joining, please reach out to Dr. Riley (rileyr@rowan.edu).
